Job Description:

QC chemist, or quality control chemist, utilizes chemistry lab skills to test and measure materials, generally in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical field. As someone whose work is generally part of a team effort, a QC chemist ensures that experiments are completed according to established Standard Operating Practices (SOP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or Good Clinical Practices (GCP), as well as any applicable federal regulations or industry standards. Some QC chemists also validate instrumentation and experiments. A candidate needs to hold a chemistry bachelor's degree to become a QC chemist.

Skills:

Hands-on Protein chemistry and protein analytical methodsWet chemistry

Gel electrophoresis and densitometry;

Capillary electrophoresis, mass spectrometry and FTIR methods - a plus

Spectroscopic methods, especially UV/Vis

Chromatography analysis (HPLC: SEC & RP; IEX & LC/MS a plus)

Bioassay and ELISA methods and cell culture;

Microbiology - a plus

Biology or Biotechnology - a plus

Computer/Software skills to include MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.), and instrument software (e.g., Empower for chromatography). Basic statistics experience expected, advanced skills are a plus).

Working knowledge of 21 CFR 210, 21 CFR 211, 21 CFR 820 and ICH guidelines preferred
