Position Summary:

Creative seeks candidates for the position of Reading Advisor for a USAID-funded project inPakistan. The Reading Advisor will provide technical leadership in the reading and literacy activities in the project. This position will lead and collaborate with a team of technical specialists, will have a strong program quality focus, and together with the other members of the senior management team will work to ensure that the activities of this project are implemented in accordance with established standards and recognized best practices to contribute to the achievement of the project’s objectives. 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

At least Master’s degree in social sciences (preferably in Education) from an accredited university
At least 8 years of experience in implementing and managing similar type education programs in the country, experience in early grade reading and literacy will be an added asset
Solid understanding of the Pakistani context, with previous experience in Pakistan or the region will be preferred. Experience in working with HEC, TTIs and other apex teacher training institutions in the country will be preferred
At least 3 years of experience in working with INGOs – experience with USAID funded projects will be preferred
Strong negotiation skills and ability to develop relations with local counterparts, donors, and other stakeholders
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Urdu is a plus.

Job Description:

Support designing and development of reading approaches/policies/programs for pre-service teacher training in the country, in line with international and national context.
Work with higher education commission (HEC), teacher training institutes (TTIs), Bureau of Curriculum (BoCs), and university curriculum experts to develop/review curricula and teaching guide’s for reading related approved courses
Provide leadership and oversight to the Mobile Bus Library program
Support  TTIs and universities to plan, manage, and monitor the implementation of  new courses for improvement of teaching reading and assessment;
Prepare and implement strategies to train TTI instructors and faculty members to teach improved curricula for reading instruction
Provide technical support in designing and implementation of professional development activities for TTI faculty in reading instruction;

Provide technical support to other components including teacher training, policy and grants in designing activities for improvement of reading in the country
