The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF), an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), is a private, non-denominational, international development agency established in 1967. It seeks sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and ill-health with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous and other resource poor regions, primarily in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Its main areas of focus are education, health, rural development, environment and strengthening civil society.

The Aga Khan Foundation (Pakistan) [AKF(P)] is seeking high calibre professional for the following position to be based in Gilgit:
“Regional Coordinator, School Improvement Programme (SIP)”
The incumbent will report to the Advisor, Education and will play a key role within the Education portfolio of AKF(P).

Overall Objective:

The incumbent will take lead in ensuring the efficient and effective implementation of programme interventions. He/she will be responsible to:
Coordinate, facilitate and if required manage aspects of the designated activities and deliverables of the programme through extensive field-based monitoring and ensure that deliverable are on time and to the agreed standards
Monitor, identify and report key programme challenges to the supervisor and play an active role in their resolution in coordination with key programme stakeholders
Liaises with Project lead at AKF education unit, AKDN implementing agencies and Government representatives of Gilgit Baltistan Education Department.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities
Proactively coordinate and act as a central point of contact for the implementing agencies and government representatives.
Actively monitor and ensure that programme implementation processes and outputs are on time and of acceptable quality.
Facilitate meetings and workshops in coordination with project lead.
Collect and submit accurate and timely data and activity progress information to project lead at AKFP for consolidation of progress reports.
Facilitate the development of a Strategic Annual Work plan if required.

General Responsibilities:

Operate within Programme management structure and operational modalities.
Represent project lead on forums and meeting if required.
Facilitate correspondence with relevant government offices on project related issues.
Prepare reports on success stories and lessons learnt from the field.
Undertake any other task as directed by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

Academic Background
The incumbent should have a Master’s degree in Social Sciences preferably in Education.
Experience
The incumbent should have a proven record of at least eight years of experience in monitoring, implementing and/or managing programmatic components.
Experience of bilateral or multilateral donor funded projects is considered essential.
Must have experience in working closely with Government counterparts.
Candidate should have excellent English communication and writing skills.
Good interpersonal skills will be essential for this position. 
Candidates with good written & spoken English, excellent interpersonal skills & knowledge of MS Office, flexibility to travel and ability to work in a diversified team environment are encouraged to apply.
